Unsettled: you’ve made the decision that where you are is not where you want to be, now you must focus on your needs and desires and the action required to attain them.

Potential Risks

• Don’t go rushing in blindly to a new role.  Take time to assess what isn’t working correctly at the moment, don’t allow your self to jump ship just for the sake of it, or to get away from the stress.  Control it and see now as an opportunity to re-evaluate yourself and where you want to go in your career.
• Research thoroughly: ensure you have all the information you require to allow you to make an informed choice about where you want to go and what you want to do – just as important to find out what has gone wrong with your current or last position.  Its important to take all the time you need to make an informed decision, moving to another organisation is not always the answer.
• Learn from your errors of the past: if not, there’s a chance history will repeat itself.  Any errors from the past must be seen as learning experiences therefore assess what went wrong before and make the necessary changes.

• Sales pitch: have a short polished pitch about why you are the best candidate for the job – not an oration from a Shakespearean play, 25 – 30 words should suffice.
• Negatives to positives: any negative experiences you have had should be seen as positive motivators.
• Professional coaching: you can work with a professional coach to define your career goals and take massive and immediate action to realise them.
• Public commitment: tell friends what you are going to achieve so that they can check up on you and ensure you are still motivated and direct towards your goals.  Give yourself reminders at home of your goals – write them down and read them every day, take time to go inside and experience the absolute joy you will experience when you achieve these goals. Make it real.
